The Perfect Picnic...

This weekend was full of studying, applying for jobs, and chores around the house. When it came time for our much needed weekly picnic, we decided to make it special. We have been watching the trees on the mountain change for the last week and decided to take a drive to find the perfect picnic spot. We definitely hit the jackpot with this view and we can't wait to go back!

Liebster Award

So a few days ago I was awarded the Liebster award by the lovely Nikki from Adore Style Blog. So from what I can tell this award is given to new up and coming blogs. Bloggers are then asked to answer a few questions so their audience can get to know them a little better, and then the blogger gets to nominate another up and coming blog that they enjoy following. So here it goes....

1. Do you have a favorite book?
I decided to change this questions to, "Do you have a favorite movie?" because honestly I have been in college for the last 4 1/2 years and have not had the chance to read anything other than linguistics or culture books for what seems like decades.
... so anyways my favorite movie hands down is Sabrina. Next time your husband is out of town, or you need a girls night, rent Sabrina, grab a tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, and prepare for the best night of your life.

2. If you could buy a brand new car, what would it be?
I have no idea. Something black, classy, and that has a working air conditioner.

3. Cat or Dog person?
Um... I guess I'll go with cat on this one, they can be pretty cute.

4. Where was your least favorite vacation?
I honestly can't think of a bad vacation. Two years ago when we went to our family cabin for Thanksgiving and almost all 20-30 of us got the flu, I still consider that a fun vacation full of funny family memories.

5. Mac or Windows?
Mac. My sweet husband bought me a Mac computer when we were engaged, the only problem is that I am very technically challenged, and also very stubborn, so basically I still have no idea what I am doing. A few months ago my husband insisted that every Friday afternoon we have "computer class" just the two of us so I can finally learn all of those cool tricks he uses. Classes have still not happened, but I finally learned how to scroll with 2 fingers, so I already feel like a pro.

6. Do you think you'll chop off your long locks?
I have considered it many times, but secretly I think my husband married me for my long hair. Jokingly my husband told me that I am allowed to cut one inch of hair per child... so that's the deal haha. So If I ever want one of those cute Peter Pan haircuts, I"d better hope for octuplets.

7. What style do you think are the most unflattering?
...The belly shirt.

8. If you could live anywhere, would you actually live there or would you stick to what you know?
If I could live anywhere I would live in a cute little town where you go to the same place every morning for breakfast and you know every one's name... somewhere like Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls. Honestly though husband and I love the city, we wish we could buy a farm and grow veggies and all that, but deep down we are city people through and through.

9. Can you speak any other languages?
Yes! Language is truly my passion. My major is currently Deaf Studies and I am training to become an American Sign Language interpreter. Sign Language is truly a beautiful language, and I can't wait to put my skills to use.

Nominations...
I would like to nominate the beautiful Emily from The Lovely Things She has amazing style!
I would also like to nominate Meredith from All Dressed Up and for her classy and timeless style.

Bow

I have seen pictures like this all over Pinterest, and decided to try to re-create these adorable bows.

Step 1: Cut a 4'' by 14'' rectangle

Step 2: Fold in half, press, and sew raw edges

Step 3: Turn inside out and press
Step 4: Fold in half, placing edges one over the other
Step 5: Sew on top of raw edges (follow the dotted line above)

Step 6: cut a 4'' by 2'' rectangle
Step 7: fold your new rectangle in half and sew

Step 8: Turn your new rectangle inside out, and wrap around the middle of your large rectangle
Step 9: Sew the small rectangle around the large rectangle
Step 10: Cut off the excess fabric of the small rectangle

Step 11: Add a clip, using hot glue to keep it in place

Peter Pan

Supplies Needed:
1. 1/4 yard of lace
2. 1/4 yard of white cotton
3. A chain (if you are like me, you have about 20 broken necklaces in your jewelry box, so just grab one of those and save yourself some money)

Directions:
Step 1: Place wrong sides of fabric together.

Step 2: Using a shirt with a collar as your pattern, pin your fabric to the shirt making sure you leave a little extra on the top for a seam allowance.

Step 3: Use a round object such as a fancy glass to create your round collar.

Step 4: Use your shirt as a guide to cut out your collar.
Step 5: Cut the collar in half.
Step 6: This part is more of a guess than an actual guided step, but cut out this general shape on both sides.

Step 7: Sew around the edges, leaving the smallest part open.

Step 8: Turn inside out, and use a pencil to push out the sides and make sure everything has been turned inside out.

Step 9: Fold the edge of your un-sewn side and then sew.

Step 10: Using a needle and thread, sew the collars together.

Step 11: Cut your chain or old necklace in half.
Step 12: Sew half the chain to each end of your collar.
Step 13: Pick out a cute shirt to wear it with and go flaunt your stuff.
